This morning as we drove to work, we tuned into a radio station that had an interesting discussion...yeah you guessed it, it was on househelps. The background was that there is a lady who has helped develop a curriculum for domestic workers in Kenya and the emphasis is on respecting oneself, good grooming, respecting the job one is doing etc. She was encouraging all employers to enrol their domestic workers for the curriculum but many were hesitant stating that they would invest much in the househelps then after a few weeks/days the girls would leave..but she said if all homes trained the domestic workers then whenever they left, then you would receive one who is trained as everyone has played their role.
The morning show had 2 male presenters, and two ladies and what caused a stir was that the men asked one lady.." whether she would employ a househelp who was prettier than her? "Would you employ one who's esteem is high and dresses well if you were married" . The lady said she would employ a househelp who is beautiful and well groomed and that it was an advantage to her because she would be able to receive her visitors well and manage the home better and the men burst out laughing and said she would be inviting trouble in her own home.,They went ahead to say that her husband would start working from home andif she was not careful she would be replaced by the girl. The ladies in studio tried to tell the men that they should have self control but the men argued that no matter the self control they had the lady would be mistakenly bringing temptation into her house.
Secondly the guys asked 'if the lady of the house found out that there was an affair between her hubby and househelp why does she blame the girl and not her husband and end up firing the housegirl". Unfortunately I don't know how the concluded the topic but that was good food for thought..
I would really be keen to hear your opinion on the 2 questions..'As a lady would you employ a househelp who is more beautiful or well groomed than you? Why are housegirls blamed for having an affair with the man of the house? We are women and here in Kenya for us career women , we are recruiting girls , infact I have a new one in my house, transitioning from one who had stayed for 2 years to this one is not easy.Kindly let me hear from you ladies...

I think our society really needs prayers for men to rise up and be real men and not take pride in immoral behavior.
Blessings.
