I always say that it is important to learn through the experiences that come our way. It was a great privilege and honour to serve baby Caleb and his family. No matter the challenges , we emerged stronger, with increased faith. I will share the lessons I learned. 1. God is real, the Almightly is Sovereign and ever faithful. 2. When God calls you kindly say Yes and He will chart the way for you, even when you do not know where that road will lead you 3. No man is an island. I would not have served as I did if I did not have the friends and the new friends that came my way during the past 1 month. 4. Always encourage someone. You don't need to have money to assist in God's work, you can write an email, sms or call, that encouragement takes the persona mile. 5.Please be careful, not everyone out there is genuine, you may have very good motives to help but others have their own goals. 6. A friend requested me to share my story on the journey we walked with Caleb's family. So below is a very long blog on that over 1 month. Am not sure what is in store for us ahead but this far it has been God. After our experience with Atrial Septal Defect(ASD) through our daughter Samara, I felt within me a call to look for people to partner with regarding kids with heart issues. So In January this year, I checked the net and bumped into a local NGO. The organization basically deals with kids with heart defects from poor families. I thought it was a noble call and contacted the organization. They were fast to respond and I visited them alone and over the weekend on a Saturday with my family. On the Saturday we went, we met Caleb and his parents. This was end of January and they were discussing with the founder of the organization about how to raise airfare for them to travel to India, first week of February. I held Caleb briefly in my arms and his mum kept saying one day her...

Caleb the great warrior, the boy who daily reminds us of God and His sovereignty has been in Kenya for 1 week now. The parents are very excited about having him home and the many milestones he is making. Nicoletta says that his appetite has increased and she is now considering to wean him. After all he will be 6months tomorrow 20th April. He is actually sitting down now without any support, that is a great milestone for this brave boy. He went for a review with the local doctor and she was impressed at his growth. He is now 5.1kgs, he will have another review and echo(scan of the heart ) in 2 weeks time but as of now he is still on medication.  The doctor told the family that they should thank God that Caleb went to India because a hospital in the UK that had offered to do  free surgery just about the time they were ready to leave for India had declined to take him saying he needed to add weight first. It was God who lead their footsteps to go ahead with the India option. ...

Caleb and mum arrived safely this afternoon and they both looked very great. Caleb's dad was so excited and you can understand , after a stressful 1 month away from him, he can now rest in the fact that their son is back home much better than he left. When I saw him and held him in my hands I could only cry, it has been a journey of tears, different emotions but most of all one of faith. We have come to know the God of Caleb because it is God who fought for Caleb this battle. There have been so many obstacles but God has a great plan for this warrior/brave boy. He is a victor. My dear friends, what more shall we say but thank you God for carrying Caleb and his family through the past one month in India. Baby Caleb and mum shall be traveling back from Bangalore to arrive Nairobi on 12th Thursday via Qatar Airlines at 12.45p.m . The past three weeks have been a roller coaster. Its been a mixed bag of emotions, shifting of goal posts and nothing ever seemed sure at any one time. I had to learn quickly that I can not put my hope in man but in God. I have had the friends of Caleb, call, sms just to find out how Caleb  was? Some, I don't even know how they got to know about Caleb but one fact that has humbled me is God is sovereign and in control. Even when we gave up many times, He was not done yet and He had woven this whole process so perfectly. Caleb is doing great, not using oxygen. His breathing a bit heavy but doctor says that will take 2 weeks for him to adopt.He is feeding well orally and the parents are happy. The doctors say he may be discharged from hospital tomorrow to a guest house. There they will observe him for 3 or four days and they will be ready to travel home. That is a miracle right there. Hi, As promised the doctor gave us a report regarding Caleb and see the awesome news summarised below. Patient was immediately admitted in PICU the same day he was shifted from Fortis hospital . Investigations was done and Diagnosis made was :  Shon's complex and severe (multiple blockages ) ; on the 26-03-12 Balloon Coarctoplasty  was done ; After few days in PICU the child condition has improved significantly . His doctor is planning to shift him to the ward by this evening .

Am so excited and know that God truly exists and He is faithful. This morning Nicolleta said Caleb is much better, she expressed milk and he drank 40ml orally which was a great milestone for him. Before leaving Kenya, Caleb was taking 10ml of milk . The doctors will be doing routine blood tests on him and will realise him to the ward from the ICU later today. That is amazing news given that they had said he may stay in ICU for more than 2 weeks. So we are grateful God. Indeed it is God who has brought us this far and we thank you all for standing with us. Some good news today, Caleb is much better than he was yesterday. Still in ICU but trying to breath on his own. His mum sounded quite excited and we thank God.

Hey , thank you for following up on Caleb. Talked to Caleb's mum this morning and she said Caleb was doing greta, he was ok, still on oxygen but they were going to remove it to see whether he can breath well on his own. This is normal after such procedures, reminds me so much of Samara post surgery. Sincerely speaking I would love to hear that Caleb is fully well and ready to come home. Its been such a battle for the last many weeks and its starting to take a toll on me. The mum mentioned in passing that he may need surgery but doctors will confirm this to us tomorrow. The questions running through  my mind are after how long will he need surgery and if soon, then we need to look for monies. We have requested the hospital to give us a quotation and I will keep you posted. Kindly pray for renewed strength, am feeling unwell with tonsils and maybe thats where my emotions of feeling overwhelmed are coming from. We continue to thank God that people are responding to our medical plea for Caleb. We have raised about Kshs 40,000 extra from yesterday and that in itself is a miracle. This morning Caleb's dad called me in distress that the monies seem to take too long to come and the boy has not been operated on yet hospital bill is going higher. He suggested that we look for another affordable hospital to transfer his family. As a well wisher, I told him that he has all the right to make decisions on his family and we shall stand by the decision they make. I continue to ask you to pray for the right decision regarding Caleb to be made. There are alot of emotions involved and we also continue to pray for wisdom and patience as we continue to seek funds to see Caleb get the best medical care he so much deserves. A brief update for you. Caleb and mum arrived safe and are at Fortis Hospitals Banglore. Caleb has been very calm and is breastfeeding well and mum doesn't have to spoon feed him. The medical examinations were done yesterday that is ECHO(heart scan) , ECG and blood test. The surgeon came today to review the results and they are due for a CT Scan tomorrow and Surgeon said surgery might be on Friday so guys lets keep praying for our little warrior and his family. On finances we have so far received Kshs 20,000 from well wishers and are very humbled by the response and we now working towards Kshs 830,000 from Kshs 850,000. By now I thought I would be writing good news about Caleb regarding his surgery. I know many of you have really stood by me and have been keen to follow Caleb's story. I talk with his mum regularly and she has been an inspiration to us. But the last two weeks have not been so great for baby Caleb..he has been in and out of hospital and has grown so frail as his mum told me yesterday. He is hardly breast feeding and she has to give him drops of milk for hours just to get him fed. She has even sent her 4 year old daughter to her mum's so that she can give Caleb all her attention. I have never heard her as low as she was yesterday and the feeling of helplessness was all I felt. Caleb was to travel to India 1st week of February but a seemingly better option came up from a hospital in UK who would  have catered for all costs inclusive of air fare and hence was pursued.
