My Life

The good news is that we have been discharged but the hospital has allowed us to stay here until Thursday midnight when we leave for the airport. We are so glad and humbled that there is no extra cost because our package was for 15 days and we are on day ten. Today I went to Saravana stores . Oh getting a taxi here is not as easy as at home.You need to call 20 minutes before to a taxi company. Anyways my new Nigerian friend was tagging along so that we share bill and we went to the stores. Took a while in there coz she was looking for Indian weave and we could only get the braids. We came face to face with poverty, old women begging persistently and it was just disheartening.  We called taxi company when we were ready to leave but none was available until the next 3 hours so we got into a tuk tuk and we didn’t breathe till we got to the hospital. The guy never stepped on the brakes, he was rough and hooting. I told him when we arrived about ...

Samara is really sweating at night and we called a nurse just to proof as they have been saying we aren’t putting air conditioner on or we  are covering her..weird because she doesn't sweat the other times. Samara wakes up about 3 a.m. but today she woke up at 5.30am. ate a banana played abit and slept…The doctor came and we mentioned and he said maybe her lungs are adjusting, We had the stitches removed and Samara cried and cried..the nurses threw us out of room and we could just hear baby girls screams. I went in later and for first time so her scar..not sure how to explain it.  Well after a few minutes we were given that medicine for sedating her which never works immediately and after 15-20minutes she slept after a few songs she sang along to. The echo went well, we finally saw the four chambers, doctors were happy, sent us for ECG and Xray and all systems seem to say go. We are so grateful to God, again its been a journey and we pra...

Thank God today was a better day. We go through routine, Alex takes her for testing of BP, vitals and Temperature and we are told she has slight fever of 37.4 she is given calpol and later stabilizes to   36 during the day.  We all have breakfast and alex had asked for sandwich wah..poor boy it was not nice at all white bread and bolied egg spilt carelessly and placed into the sliced bread,..no salt though..We enjoyed the cornflakes, Sam likes tea which we add lots of milk.  Did I mention we need to give her fluids upto 460ML..today we are lagging behind but trying our best. Sama has been really sweating when she sleeps, its not a big deal for this guys they tell us not to cover her..(by the way coz of heat we only have 2 sheets on the bed) and to put aircon. Did I say how tired we are of hospital. Doctor came to check her,,says she is good, need to remove stitches, do ECG, ECHO and Xray then we shall be ready to go home. ...

We    hardly slept last nite.Samara was on my boob the whole nite and it was just exhausting.We  were  awake by 3a.m.and Samara ate a banana and later Alex gave her an orange. I threw myself to the bed and aAlex watched over sam for a shortwhile.     Well today-18th October is our third year anniversary. We thank God for this far he has brought us. We enjoy each others company despite being in hospital and amazingliy dinner was good we ate rice and fish..a change from chicken. We also shared a sprite like champagne.haha. It was last day of nabolisation thank God samara really didn’t like it much. We have so much to be thankful for.

We are told to take Samara downstairs at 6.30a.m for nabolisation. She needs to redo it lunch time and evening at 10a.m.. Our new routine is whenever we change diaper we have to weigh it and record..whatever fluid except breastmilk needs to be recorded the amount. We need to keep going to have her vitals checked, temperature and BP. Sam doesn’t like the nabolisation and cries through the 10minutes…but it helps a lot. Today she seems to be much better, walking on her own, too excited to sleep. She breast feeds so much am feeling drained..I am worried about our routine because with time difference and her sensitivity we need to be there for her and all the rules seem to have gone out of the window. Anyways Alex had to go with others to the immigration so he left at 9.30 a,m and returned at 1 only to say that they need to go back at 2p.m. Sam doesn’t want to sleep..she wants mummy to lie next to her. Thank God the lady who cleans didn’t come at 5.30 but at 7 which was ok. A nurse came and said more milk is required for Samara at ICU and its good to hear she is taking it though bits by bits. They had promised to bring her today to the room and am hoping they do, its so different without her and am sure she is wondering where she is with all the strangers… Today Sunday, I have woken up, no appetite just took cereals and tea. As usual their cornflakes comes without milk..am yet to figure what that is all about. Our fellow Kenyans were moved to third floor. I went to see the room yesterday and in comparison with fourth floor it aint all that but yet again,,we are here because of samara’s heart and total healing so the rest are luxuries.  I am feeling tired of being in hospital yet we have another maybe 10 days or so…anyways will write later hopefully to say Sam is with us in the room. But one thing we are grateful for is God.We have just see...
