Song of Praise

Today am singing a song of praise and thanksgiving to God. I guess we wait for big miracles to happen in our lives but think even small ones need to be recognised. My beloved travelled this morning out of town and his being away kinda made me fearful because I really needed him to take me to some place to pick somethings. The thing is am always fearful to go to that place alone and I draw some sense of security when Alex accompanies me. Well when he told me he would be travelling for 2 days, I cried because I knew I have to go to that place alone.  I braced myself this morning and as I was on my way, my mum informed me that I can't go with a small car to pick the things as they were too bulky and I needed a pickup. She gave me a contact for a pickup and coincidentally the owner had another driver today whom he requested to take me. Better still, the guy knew the exact location of the place we were going and we didn't have to go asking as I would have done if I was alone. So...

A Mother's Courage

Yesterday I was reading the post http://ethiopianbaby-waitingarms.blogspot.com/2012/01/somber-reflections.html of a lady who has been an encouragement and challenge to me . In her post she was making emphasy on spending time with our kids and how decline their pleas to play or read a story because of a task that we think is more urgent.  She had a link on Baby Tripp  http://randycourtneytripproth.blogspot.com/ and how courageous his mum has been for the last 2years 8months despite knowing her son's condition. I clicked on the link and am intrigued and have so many mixed emotions, how can this be? When I mount up the courage I open the blog to read this amazing woman's journey with her son who peacefully rested on January 14th 2012. Her faith in God and determination to stick by her son's side is out of this world and when you gather the courage you can also read her/their story. May we never take the things and people especially children we have for granted. Imagine ho...

Caleb Maina-2

By now I thought I would be writing good news about Caleb regarding his surgery. I know many of you have really stood by me and have been keen to follow Caleb's story. I talk with his mum regularly and she has been an inspiration to us. But the last two weeks have not been so great for baby Caleb..he has been in and out of hospital and has grown so frail as his mum told me yesterday. He is hardly breast feeding and she has to give him drops of milk for hours just to get him fed. She has even sent her 4 year old daughter to her mum's so that she can give Caleb all her attention. I have never heard her as low as she was yesterday and the feeling of helplessness was all I felt. Caleb was to travel to India 1st week of February but a seemingly better option came up from a hospital in UK who would  have catered for all costs inclusive of air fare and hence was pursued. The hospital took sometime to get back to the parents and when the feedback came last week it was devastating as ...

Alive In God

Here is your word for today: Verse:             Psalm 27:13 I am expecting the Lord to rescue me again, so that once again I will see His goodness to me here in the land of the living.   - Be expectant that God will come through for you. - God wants to show you His goodness. - He wants to be good to you during your life (in the land of the living). - He wants to rescue you again and again. PRAYER: Lord, You are my hope! Thank You for Your goodness and kindness to me. Amen. Have a great day! Regards Pastor Andrew & Vanessa Roebert

Househelps

This morning as we drove to work, we tuned into a radio station that had an interesting discussion...yeah you guessed it, it was on househelps. The background was that there is a lady who has helped develop a curriculum for domestic workers in Kenya and the emphasis is on respecting oneself, good grooming, respecting the job one is doing etc. She was encouraging all employers to enrol their domestic workers for the curriculum but many were hesitant stating that they would invest much in the househelps then after a few weeks/days the girls would leave..but she said if all homes trained the domestic workers then whenever they left, then you would receive one who is trained as everyone has played their role. The morning show had 2 male presenters, and two ladies and what caused a stir was that the men asked one lady.." whether she would employ a househelp who was prettier than her? "Would you employ one who's esteem is high and dresses well if you were married" . The l...

Back to school

After being home for two days last week because of her throat infection, baby gal had really missed school, infact while were home she kept asking about school. So yesterday, Monday as we dropped her she was so anxious and the teachers seemed to have missed her as much and well we said good bye and they left for class. When my beloved went to pick her in the afternoon, he said Samara was not interested in coming home. Yeah she saw him and pretended to move on with what she was doing. When they got to the car , she just yelled and didn't want to be tied the seat belt and indeed we knew she had really missed school.Maybe she feared we would keep her home for another 2 days, but what to do next week Monday and Tuesday is midterm and we shall have some major explaining to do. Personally, I do not recall a time I loved school that much but am glad that we do not have to force her to go there everyday..anyways who would not want to just go play with other kids..I wouldn't mind.
