My greatest lesson over that long weekend was the value of true friendship. We were moving house on Friday and my left butt had been paining seriously since Wednesday. Thursday evening, I drove home early to pack and I couldn't leave the car literally. I had to sit in the car for a while for the pain to subside and then took forever to climb the stairs to our apartment on 3rd floor. When I got into the house , I lay on the seat and couldn't turn or move and that meant I could only sit there helpless.
Anyways , Carol a friend had planned to come help pack and sleep over and she allowed me to just sit and watch them pack without wondering what's wrong with this pregnant woman. The day for moving she had a seminar and they changed place with another friend Angie who helped greatly. I only went down the stairs when everything had been loaded onto the car.
My sister Ems and her family took picked baby gal very early on Friday morning and that relived us from the stress of shifting with a 2 year old, excited about moving to our new house...she had been sleeping at past eleven for the past 2 nights helping to pack. She had a lovely time out of town and slept over with her cousins and was returned on Saturday afternoon after we had settled in.
I can't forget how Angie and Carol, helped us unpack..they made sure that the kitchen essentials were unpacked , that we had bulbs fixed before they left very tired on my behalf. We were so spoiled that day because Rosemary and her family offered to bring us dinner on the same day and we didn't have to worry about cooking. We also appreciated the many calls we got from different people just offering their support.
The lesson for me that day was treasure the friendships you have. They may not be many or you may not talk everyday but these are people who can stand in for you when you are not able to. I thank God for true friends and may I be a true one.
