Doing Business In Kenya

This is my take on doing business in Kenya. I feel like one is punished for doing business today. Why do I say that? For example, am so furious and frustrated by our clearing system. Can you imagine our cargo arrived at the port on 19th June and today 12th July it still isn't out. It has been back and forth with many excuses and as at now my agent in Mombasa is not picking my calls. Can you imagine the amount of time wasted and the business opportunities lost? Why should one have to take over a month to clear cargo?

I am frustrated  because, I have clients who made payments for items 1 or 2months ago and the  prolonged delay is  unwarranted. The utility bills are high, high fuel prices, the rents are high and most people are forced to work from home, items purchased both locally and internationally have gone up. Even as you try and cushion your clients, and strive to give them fair and affordable prices the cost of doing business is high. Have you looked at our exchange rate lately? 1USD to 90.5 KES and it had gone higher.

Am praying that as we are encouraged to do business and not seek out employment, that the business environment can be abit friendly especially to start ups.

My Journey with Caleb's Family

A friend requested me to share my story on the journey we walked with Caleb's family. So below is a very long blog on that over 1 month. Am not sure what is in store for us ahead but this far it has been God. After our experience with Atrial Septal Defect(ASD) through our daughter Samara, I felt within me a call to look for people to partner with regarding kids with heart issues. So In January this year, I checked the net and bumped into a local NGO. The organization basically deals with kids with heart defects from poor families. I thought it was a noble call and contacted the organization. They were fast to respond and I visited them alone and over the weekend on a Saturday with my family. On the Saturday we went, we met Caleb and his parents. This was end of January and they were discussing with the founder of the organization about how to raise airfare for them to travel to India, first week of February. I held Caleb briefly in my arms and his mum kept saying one day her...

Happy Heavenly 13th Birthday Jaden

My dearest Jaden, Today is October 13, 2025. You would have turned 13—such a big milestone. This year, thinking of you has been hard, maybe it's because I came to Langa'ta after intentionally staying away or maybe 13 is so significant. I find myself wishing you had stayed and never left. It's unbelievable that time has gone so fast, yet love and memories remain. I look at your siblings; gorgeous, courageous& resilient, growing too fast into amazing  people and I miss you.  For the past few days, I have been lingering on Psalms 127:1-3 NIV  "Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him . Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court." I am thankful for you. I carry you in my heart.  I love you. Happy 13th birthday. Always Mummy.
